JCAHO: Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits nearly 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. JCAHO is an independent, not-for-profit organization, and is the predominant standards-setting and accrediting entity in health care. JCAHO standards set forth performance expectations for health care organizations, and JCAHO has incorporated performance measurement data into its voluntary accreditation process.
