Quest Projects : Healthy Lifestyles

There are five important things people can do to have a positive impact on their own health:
- Don't smoke
- Exercise
- Eat a healthy diet
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Maintain an appropriate weight based on their body mass index (BMI)
The Quest Healthy Lifestyles Team looked at how to combine data from different health risk assessments to get a snapshot of the health of central Illinois residents.
Because of the differences in how questions were asked on risk assessment surveys, the team was only able to get results on two of the five measures—smoking and BMI.
A second team, called the Healthy Lifestyles School Project, worked with the Full Service Community School Advisory Council in Peoria and made recommendations to the council on how to improve healthy llifestyle choices for youth and families at three District 150 schools: Garfield Primary School, Trewyn Middle School, and Manual High School.
